click tips you'll most certainly feel overwhelmed.
After all, Google Adwords alone is a complex
advertising service that marketers have been
studying and testing for years. That's why it's
critical that you read all the tips you can get
before even signing up for this service.
Don't Assume You Know It
All
Just when you think you have
a handle on pay per click, tips come along to prove
that you've only uncovered the surface! Continually
study marketing tactics, with both Google Adwords
and Yahoo! Publishing. Those who have been at it a
while can show you how to set up your accounts for
easier tracking, research appropriate keywords for
your products, manage your funds while making a
profit, and more.
Money Matters and
Statistics
You can't just budget your
Pay Per Click campaigns based on a monthly set
amount. You have to examine current statistics for
your particular products, their profit margin and
how much an ad's cost and conversion rate will be.
If you pay $0.50 for each click and receive only a
$10 commission on a site with a conversion rate of
2%, then you're going to actually lose money.
You're basically paying $25 to make only $10!
That's not a very good business marketing plan, so
keep this in mind before aimlessly throwing
together a keyword campaign.
Also, avoid heavy spending
with these services until you do some testing.
Don't just put hundreds or thousands of dollars
into your account and watch it deplete. Become
familiar with your numbers (ad costs, conversion
rates, etc.) first.
Long Tail
Keywords
Do some research to find long
tail keywords that work for each of your products.
These are very specific and longer phrases that
potential customers might be typing in to find your
products. You'll find a lot of pay per click tips
that mention how to find these so don't worry.
*Example: "mint enamel
protecting toothpaste" instead of just "mint
toothpaste" or "bridal photo book" instead of just
"photo book"
Negative keywords should also
be considered. There are tools in Google Adwords to
help you find and avoid keywords that you should
not include in your search results. These can help
you avoid getting traffic from those seekers who
only want information but are not interested in
buying. You won't waste dollars and clicks on
non-effective traffic. A few examples of negative
keywords include: wholesale, download, free,
discount and training.
