Create your own websiteA Quick Story from a Lay Person

Are you computer savvy? For the longest time I would have said that computers were surely not my forte.

However, these days I’m not so sure. I mean, I know how to bank online; I surf the web daily; I know how to use Microsoft office, I comprehend gigabytes, hard drives and cable versus DSL.

Not to mention building a website from scratch. Are you in the same boat? If so, then consider yourself computer savvy.

One of the wonderful aspects of computers is the Internet. Even those with the most fundamental skills usually excel at this past time.

A great thing about the Internet is the freedom. You have the freedom to frolic about in cyberspace with your laptop. In fact, you can even create your own website without spending a buck. Now that’s technology at its best.

Have you ever attempted to create your own website?

Did it work out or get too complicated? Don’t fret! The Internet will provide you with all of the necessary information to aid you in this simple process. Punch a few keywords in Google and find out how to easily create your own website.

Having your own website is more beneficial than many understand. I decided to create my own website about a year ago. These days I like to keep it updated with family photos and fun events that we like to share.

While it’s easy for me to keep my personal website updated, it’s even simpler for my family and friends to enjoy it. Once I’ve sent them the link, they can access my personal website whenever they please. This is a great way to keep in touch with those you care about.

The grandparents no longer have to miss out on those precious moments. You can catch them all on camera or video and post them online.

You Are NOT Alone – A Personal Story From A Confused Web Designer About Creating A Website

My brother’s wife is creating a website and she has asked me to come to her house to guide her through the process. She is extremely aggravated by the process and she seems very confused and frustrated.

I agreed to give her a hand, but I really do not know that much about creating a website myself. I was flattered that she thought that I did know how to create a web page, but I was not sure why she thought that I had experience with it.

I came to the sudden realization that my sister in law is under the impression that I am efficient at web design because she has visited my blog. I think that she is confusing blogs with websites.

I may know how to set up a blog but this does not qualify me to tutor someone on creating a web page. I have come to the realization that many people do not understand the difference between a blog and a web page.

I am not sure if I understand the difference between creating a blog and website designing, but I’m going to give it a shot. Actually I have trouble describing the difference between a blog and a website.

A blog is a kind of online journal. The person who creates the blog posts short articles, pictures and various entries to give the blog some depth. There is little work in creating a blog. Blogs are free and very user friendly and I am quite comfortable with the format.

I imagine that there is significantly more work involved in creating a website. After all, there are professionals who work full time in the field of Internet design.

I did suggest that my sister-in-law should use a service like Bravenet in her attempts at creating a website. Bravenet has everything a lay person needs to get started and it has a lot of information and technical support. I am going to walk her through the steps as they are presented by Bravenet and see if we can work together in creating a website.

If all goes well, I may even create a website of my own. For now, I am going to stick to blogging. Like I said, blogs are user-friendly and they are free. I really do not need anything else right now.

In the future, I may call my sister-in-law to see if she can help me when I try my hand at creating a website on my own. Hopefully, she will get me moving in the right direction. Now, how about you? Are you ready to take the challenge and create your own website today?
