When it comes to buying web design programs for beginners, online HTML editors are great for getting started.  These are editors that can be used online (without downloading anything) and you can save the file to your computer just as you would with web design software.

Web design editors give you flexibility to make changes to your HTML without having to open up a program on your hard drive.

Many editors like one of the favorites, Adobe Dreamweaver have a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) feature for pc or Mac users, meaning you can make changes in the actual HTML or in the actual template.

Toggle back and forth between the designed page and the HTML source to view your work and make changes.  Easily build, copy and paste HTML codes into the source if you need to add JavaScript and other key features to your web page.

Great for Simplistic HTML Design
While this type of web design program is not an all-inclusive solution for websites, it does offer the basics needed to create a web page.  If you need to program your pages for a more complex website (such as PHP), then you’ll likely need a more complex design program like Dreamweaver.

But keep in mind that some of the pages on a PHP website are designed just like ordinary HTML pages, so you can use the on line editor for some editing purposes with just about any type of programming technique.

Easy-to-Use Features
Online HTML programs have all the basic features of any design program.  You can align your text by selecting right justified, left justified or center commands.  Enhance your text by making it bold, italic style or with an underline.  Change the text colors, font and size.

Insert headings if you need a headline for your page.  Create HTML tables or a horizontal rule.  You can even insert links and images simply by clicking a button or two.  It’s really easy to use so even beginners can get started with little or no training.

If you prefer to start with a template, some editors include a template to work with so you won’t have to start from scratch so that you don’t have to learn all the codes such as how to add HTML links or menus – stuff like that.  The template already has the basic HTML source code along with some text to get you started.  You can make changes to create a page like you want it.

While many online editors are available online at no charge, some ask that you pay a fee to get the full-feature educational version.  The full-feature version usually includes more design capability and may even accommodate PHP and other design languages.  You can try out the online version to learn how it works and then upgrade later if you’d like to continue using that program.

As you learn more about HTML web design programs, try an online editor for starters to get a feel for how design works.  Then take a complete beginner’s course once you’re ready to design a website from start to finish and get it up and running.  It’s easier than you think!
