Designing Web Pages and Portal Sites

What's the difference between creating a normal website and web portal design. Learn more about Internet page creation in this tutorial. While both portal and normal web design often lead to a great outcome when creating websites, they are quite different from each other.  Most professional websites online today are based off of normal web design, but there are many others that are created using web portal design.  Both of these types of web design offer exceptional websites and often the viewer cannot tell the difference.

End Results

The differences that exist between these two types of design are only evident at the creation of the site because the outcome is always a professionally designed website.  Since many of the well known corporations hire a web designer to create their website, the designer will already know the type of company that the design is being used for.

Benefits

They can create the web page design much easier, already knowing the type and amount of content that will be used as well as the colors and pictures that will appear on the site.  Knowing all of the company's information is very helpful in this type of design because the website is created specifically for the image the company is trying to create for themselves.  However, web portal design entails a completely different process for designing a website from scratch.

Difficulty in Designing Portals

Portal designers have a much more difficult job when creating web sites because they really do not know who they are doing the designing for.  Many times these types of sites will include information from various sources in one location.

Making Web Page Modifications

It is necessary for the designer to make the website portal designs easily changeable for the user to modify the colors, pictures, and content for each article or item of information that is to appear on the site.  Without knowing the exact information that will be incorporated into the Internet site, the designer essentially has to make the design appropriate for as much content as possible.

While designs and functions of a typical web page often only includes content from one company or individual, it is easier to create a design that is appropriate for just the one type of niche or marketplace. However, creating a portal design needs to be done in such a way that it can please anyone using the site and submitting articles or information.

Although there are many differences throughout the creation process of these two types of websites, the major difference is creating a page in web design that is appropriate for one known specific topic or creating a design appropriate for many unknown topics. Now you know what portals are!
