Best Web Design Courses -
E-book or Online Training?
When learning
web design, you might
be tempted to get the cheapest or what is seemingly
the easiest learning format available. But take
your time and think it over before signing on for
any type of online course. There are basically two
types of web training for Internet courses - online
training sites and e-books. Let's explore the pros
and cons of both so you can get the type of lessons
that are right for you.
Web Design Training
E-books
E-books are downloaded to
your computer's hard drive and readable either
through your browser or an e-book reader. Those
that open directly in your browser when clicked are
usually executable files (with an .exe extension).
E-books that open in a reader are very often .pdf
files that were created in an Adobe program.
The reader is called Adobe
Acrobat. If you've downloaded anything online, you
probably already have this reader on your computer!
There are others programs and readers available,
but Adobe is the leading program used today because
it's so versatile among various brands and types of
computers.
Web design courses in
e-book format have their advantages. You can open
and read them any time... even if your Internet
connection is not available. These can be opened
directly on your hard drive, but you will need to
be hooked up to the Internet if the e-book contains
links to web pages (such as examples, resources,
etc.) E-books are also created in a format that's
easy to print directly from your hard drive if you
want a hard copy for keeps. This is a wise thing to
do anyhow in case your computer crashes because
then you'll still have a copy of your
e-book.
Online
Training
When taking web design
courses online, you'll need to log in to an
online training website to complete your lessons.
These may or may not be at set times depending on
the course. Some have live instructors that you can
converse with if you have questions or need
assistance with your lessons.
Online
training courses for web
design are also
usually interactive, which can really enhance your
learning experience! There are two drawbacks with
online training. You'll have to be online to take
the course at any given time, and these courses are
usually the most expensive next to attending a
local college. Some can cost anywhere from $1,000
to $5,000 or more depending on the type of
certification and which school is offering the
training.
As you can see, mastering web
design can be as easy as signing up for an online
training site or taking a downloadable e-book
course. These types of web design courses give
everyone a chance to learn how to design a website
without having to attend a four-year
college.
