How
to Insert Spam-Resistant Emails into Your Web
Pages

Stop the email
spammers
The no-spam email code
Ever wondered how so many spammers get
your email address? Email spam is the number one plague of
the Internet these days, and it's only going to get worse as
more people catch on to the "wonderful" web.
The reason your email address seems so
popular is NOT because an actual person came to your Web
site and copied your email address manually. It's because
advanced software has been developed in recent years which
enables spammers to do their dirty work without making any
effort!
This spam, or harvest, software
releases spies (or spam bots) throughout the search engines
that can capture millions of emails from the HTML code of
innocent sites all over the Web - including yours and mine.
Spammers can literally obtain millions
of email addresses within a matter of hours, then sell them,
spam them, or both. Unfortunately, there's no way to prevent
them from harvesting all of these emails. Even with new laws
in place, the spam will still continue. Prosecution is very
difficult in most cases because spammers do not play
fair.
A Possible
Solution?
We can take steps to combat spam at
our own Web site and mailbox. One way to stay a step ahead
of spammers is to use unique ways of revealing your email
address to visitors.
A javascript code has been created to
help hide your email address in HTML while maintaining a
"normal" appearance and functionality at your Web site. I'll
show you how to do this in a moment. No special skills are
required if you already have a site up and
running.
I realize there have been other ways
to prevent spam, such as including a special phrase in the
actual email address that the sender would have to remove
manually. This method does help prevent spam, but please
beware of the pitfalls...
An example of this method is
below:
The email on the web page and in the
sender's email client might look something like
this:
no_spam_candice@onlinesuccesstips.com
The sender would need to remove the
no_spam_ portion of this email in order to send the
email successfully. < style="font-family:
helvetica,arial,sans-serif;">The problem with this method
is that it could hinder you from receiving your email and
cause you to lose sales if you're operating an online
business. Your visitors might or might not understand how
email works (or how an email address should
look.)
If the visitor makes an attempt to
email you, and the attempt fails, you will probably lose all
credibility with that visitor. So, beware of these methods
even though they will prevent some spam.

The method I'd like to discuss uses a
simple javascript code to disguise your email address. The
spam bots will not be able to decipher the email, but your
email will appear normal on your website and maintain it's
normal functionality.
Using this method, no code will show
in the email to your visitors.
