Traffic
Generation - Tips for Increasing Traffic to Your
Website
Taking into consideration
that you've mastered some of the challenges of
beginner web design, it's now time to consider how
to get people to your new Internet presence. How do
you do it? How can you increase website traffic?
Through paying for advertising on TV or radio like
the big companies?
Don't know about you, but I'd
go broke in a hurry using these methods. But, if
you are not made of money, don't despair - there
are others ways to web traffic generation which we
will talk about in these beginner tips.
Plain Talk about
Increasing Web Traffic
Much has been said about
marketing
a website - and I'm
certainly not a guru. Here I will try to go a
little less technical and talk about other ways you
can increase website traffic. Almost everybody
today is aware of search engine optimization. If
you are not aware of this, then you need to.
If You are Really
Patient
It's a known fact that many
major search engines like Google will rarely give
you any kind of ranking if you have not started off
right with some kind of optimization to your
website. Which, incendently is why it's called SEO.
There are also many companies that will charge fees
to get you a higher page rank. Even with a good
well-executed search engine optimization campaign,
the results may take months to be evident. Consider
that there are thousands, if not millions, of web
designers doing the same thing.
Discover Organic Search
Optimization - The Blogs
What can you do extra, in
addition to your search engine optimization
campaign, to increase website traffic? One of the
most effective marketing ways is blog advertising.
With blogs it is much easier to engage people and
lead them to your site thereby resulting in an
increase of web traffic.
Tips for Blogging
SEO
Ensure that your blogs are
always updated and have a catchy title. Blogs with
a lot of traffic get good ranking results. If you
have one-way links from those sites headed to your
website, the page ranks will even be higher. If you
want to increase website traffic, try to link to
relevant sites too. Link building, especially
one-way-links that lead to your website but do not
link back are considered very valuable by Google.
If you have built such links from online
directories, then you are guaranteed traffic.
Link Building with
BU
The company we use most for
getting these one way links is Blogging
Underground. The system is good, there are right
now over 200 different monitered blogs to announce
your site (according to relevance of course) and,
at the time of this writing, BU is offering a free
12 step to traffic video. You should watch and
learn even if you don't accept Mike's offer. It's
really worth checking out.
Twitter, Facebook, et.
al.
Social networking sites are
also becoming a new way through which many websites
are promoting their goods and services. Many sites
already have accounts on Facebook and Twitter.
These social websites have massive amounts of
traffic and you can increase website traffic if you
know to capture all that traffic and re-direct it
to your website.
Don't Forget the
Directories!
No, Open Directory is not the
only one - although probably the most powerful.
But, why settle for just one link coming back to
your website when you can have more? Many
webmasters interested in link building to increase
website traffic do searches for smaller directories
to gain more exposure and relevance either by hand
or by using a semi-automated system such as
Directory Submitter .
This program lists over 2,000
directories at the time of this writing and saves
time unless you have the means to outsource this
task. The benefits far outweigh the costs as it is
reasonable for the results. And, there is a
free version available if you want to take
Directory Submitter for a spin.
One word of caution - If you
use any type software or even submit by hand, vary
your text, descriptions and keywords so that you
don't have the same text in every link. This will
look more natural to the search engines and most
likely will produce better results. Do it over time
and allocate the number of minutes spent each day
for consistency.
There are many ways to do
that. One of them is through viral marketing.
Another way is to offer free downloads of a book or
software requiring people to visit your site to do
that. There are many clever ways to have people
visit your site. The goal should be to have people
come back again and again to your site. If you make
the effort to increase website traffic, you will
reap the fruits in no time.
Slow and Natural Increases
Web Traffic
Don't be over zealous! Take
your time, especially with a new site to develop
traffic generation slowly, over a period of time.
Avoid patterns, don't try to use automation, by
hand is best. This way you'll build pages, put up
relative and useful content for your visitors and
gradually get links back from all over the world.
Google loves this method. Try it and see. These are
not the only methods to increase website traffic
but the tips here will get you started. The main
point is to do something to get people to come
today!
